چکیده

Optimal transportation distances are valuable for comparing and analyzing probability distributions, but larger-scale computational techniques for the theoretically favorable quadratic case are limited to smooth domains or regularized approximations. Motivated by fluid flowbased transportation on Rn, however, this paper introduces an alternative definition of optimal transportation between distributions over graph vertices. This new distance still satisfies the triangle inequality but has better scaling and a connection to continuous theories of transportation. It is constructed by adapting a Riemannian structure over probability distributions to the graph case, providing transportation distances as shortest-paths in probability space. After defining and analyzing theoretical properties of our new distance, we provide a time discretization as well as experiments verifying its effectiveness.

A Proximal Bregman Projection Approach to Continuous Max-Flow Problems Using Entropic Distances

One issue limiting the adaption of large-scale multi-region segmentation is the sometimes prohibitive memory requirements. This is especially troubling considering advances in massively parallel computing and commercial graphics processing units because of their already limited memory compared to the current random access memory used in more traditional computation. To address this issue in the...

Shortest Paths and Voronoi Diagrams with Transportation Networks Under General Distances

Transportation networks model facilities for fast movement on the plane. A transportation network, together with its underlying distance, induces a new distance. Previously, only the Euclidean and the L1 distances have been considered as such underlying distances. However, this paper first considers distances induced by general distances and transportation networks, and present a unifying appro...

Quadratically-Regularized Optimal Transport on Graphs

Optimal transportation provides a means of lifting distances between points on a geometric domain to distances between signals over the domain, expressed as probability distributions. On a graph, transportation problems can be used to express challenging tasks involving matching supply to demand with minimal shipment expense; in discrete language, these become minimumcost network ow problems. Optimal transport over nonlinear systems via infinitesimal generators on graphs

We present a set-oriented graph-based framework for continuous-time optimal transport over nonlinear dynamical systems. Our approach allows us to recover provably optimal control laws for steering a given initial distribution in phase space to a final distribution in prescribed finite time for the case of nonlinear control-affine systems. The action of the controlled vector fields is approximat...

A new approach in graph- based integrated production and distribution scheduling for perishable products

This study is concerned with how the quality of perishable products can be improved by shortening the time interval between production and distribution. As special types of food such as dairy products decay fast, the integration of production and distribution scheduling (IPDS) is investigated. An integrated scheduling of both processes improves the performance and costs because the separated sc...
